Self-Compassion
Recognising my limitations without treating them as personal shortcomings.
Felt like: Fatigue from Mounjaro. My body feels depleted, and the energy I normally expect from myself isn’t available.
Mine: I can still show up for myself, just differently today.
Why: I want to continue working and creating, but my energy isn’t matching my expectations. Rather than forcing myself to meet my usual standards, I lower them and work from bed.
Nuance: Self-compassion isn’t necessarily giving up or letting myself off the hook. It’s recognising my current capacity and responding with kindness rather than criticism.
Not quite:
- Resignation — I accept something because I feel unable to change it.
- Frustration — I feel obstructed by my limitations.
- Self-compassion — I acknowledge my limitations without judging myself for having them.
What it showed me: Productivity doesn’t have to look the same every day. I can adapt my expectations to my capacity without abandoning what matters to me.
